Teiichi Kobayashi

Teiichi Kobayashi ( Japanese 小林 貞 一 Kobayashi Teiichi ; * 1901 ; † 1996 ) was a Japanese geologist , paleontologist and zoologist .

Kobayashi studied at the Imperial University of Tokyo from 1924 to 1927 . He remained at the university as a professor even after his retirement in 1962.

In 1989 his list of publications was over 800 scientific papers and books. As a paleontologist, he dealt in particular with trilobites .

He was editor of the Geology and Paleontology of Southeast Asia series (University of Tokyo Press), the first volume of which appeared in 1974.

He was an honorary member of the Royal Society of New Zealand .

Dedication names

The Kobayashi broad-winged bat ( Eptesicus kobayashii ) and the frog species Megophrys kobayashii were named after Kobayashi .
