Partial crown
Partial crowns ( English crown partial ), as the gentle variation of the crown on long tooth structure defects which no restoration by filling technique or a inlays allow to be used.
In contrast to the crown, the preparation margin of which runs on the tooth neck , the partial crown edge of load-bearing tooth cusps lies in the area of the anatomical tooth equator , while the shear cusps are only coupled over.
Precious metal alloys and all-ceramic materials can be used as materials . Ceramic is an excellent material for partial crowns not only from an aesthetic point of view, but especially because of the possibility of adhesive cementation and thus the stabilization of the remaining hard tooth substance.
