Alfred Schrick

Alfred Karl Schrick (born August 19, 1919 in Alsenz , Northern Palatinate ; † August 7, 2007 in Mainz ) was a German author and poet of humorous verses .

Live and act

Alfred Schrick grew up as the son of a winemaker and innkeeper in the northern Palatinate. He attended high school in Bad Kreuznach and passed his Abitur in 1938; a school friend was Jockel Fuchs . Before the start of the Second World War , he briefly studied in Munich in 1938 , then was drafted into the Wehrmacht and worked as a translator at theaters of war in southwest France and Italy. After the war he was one of the first students of the rebuilt Mainz Johannes Gutenberg University , where he Jura studied; then in Speyer at the newly created University of Administrative SciencesAdministrative law. After his legal clerkship, he joined the state service in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior at the beginning of the 1950s , where he worked until his retirement in 1982, most recently as a senior ministerial advisor in the department for local legislation; in the 1960s he played a key role in the regional reform and creation of the association communities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In addition to his full-time work and his writings on administrative law , he has written a number of books since the 1960s in which he reflected on his experiences in administration in a humorous way; later his interest shifted to local history research on the North Palatinate (among other things in cooperation with the North Palatinate History Association ) and dialect research. In 1998 he was co-editor of the Alsenz dictionary , and in 2002 his last work, his childhood and youth memories of the Alsenz train station district, was published. Due to illness, Alfred Schrick was unable to produce one last book on Alsenz's economic history in the interwar years.

In addition to his writing activities, Schrick worked in the parish of Mainz-Hechtsheim as an organist, member of the church board and long-time editor of the community newspaper "Der Call".
