Tekki Shodan

Tekki Shodan ( Japanese 鉄 騎 初段 ) is a Kata in Shōtōkan - Karate , which has its origin in the Kata Naihanchi . In this order, the kata comes after the five Heian katas . The Karateka leads them in the examination for the 3rd Kyu (brown belt 1.) ago. It consists of 30 movements and takes about 25 seconds.

The kata is characterized by the fact that in the kiba dachi it is performed on a line by step sequences to the left and right. Both slow techniques, in which tension has to be built up, and fast techniques occur alternately. In the second half of the kata, the first is repeated in mirror image, at the end of both halves the karateka emits a kiai .
