Telecommunications Industry Association
The Telecommunications Industry Association ( TIA ) is an association of government agencies in the United States and companies in the data technology and telecommunications industries . The organization, based in Arlington , Virginia, was founded in 1988 and develops standards for communications products, including standards for cabling.
Common TIA standards include:
- TIA-568A / B , definition of eight-pin RJ-45 plugs and sockets as used in Ethernet
- TIA-598-C, definition of the color of fiber optic cables for wide area cabling
- TIA-602-A, definition of the AT command set for modems.
- TIA-607-B, design of earthing systems in the telecommunications sector
