Telephone messages are an invention of the Hungarian entrepreneur and telephone pioneer Tivadar Puskás (1844–1893). Around 1850 he introduced a news service in Budapest , where telephone customers could listen to a recorded text with messages .
The offer was very successful and received worldwide attention and dissemination. In Switzerland, from 1950 to approx. 1996, the Swiss Dispatch Agency ran the telephone messaging service in cooperation with the postal, telephone and telegraph companies (PTT, now Swisscom ).
