Telecardiology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In telecardiology , "heart data" is transmitted via cellular network, internet or telephone line. Telecardiology is a branch of telemedicine . It makes use of the latest state of communication and medical technology and is used for various cardiovascular diseases in both diagnostic and therapeutic areas. Telecardiology, for example, has the potential to improve medical care in a variety of ways, primarily to reduce the quality of life of patients and their cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

General

In North Rhine-Westphalia, cardiological patients from the rehabilitation clinic can also receive further treatment in their own four walls as an alternative to the established IRENA follow- up program. Women in particular can continue to receive therapy at home for one year after rehabilitation using teletherapy . You will receive an individual therapy which is practiced in the clinic and which is continued in your own four walls after the end of the rehab.

Studies

In summary, a study by the PVA in Austria from 2014 (TRIC = TeleRehabilitation In Coronary Artery Disease) found that telerehabilitation at home can be considered safe and feasible for patients with uncomplicated CHD. In addition, significant improvements in the TRG (Telereha group) could be shown in physical fitness. Inpatient rehabilitation was shortened to two weeks for the TRG, followed by a 10-week telerehabilitation program. The telerehabilitation equipment used by the participants at home included an ergometer, a computer, a heart rate sensor and a digital blood pressure monitor. Here, data was not only transmitted from the patient to the center, but also vice versa, i.e. H. the settings of the training devices could be changed from the center as required. Telerehabilitation is a new, promising approach in the care of working patients after a cardiac event and could in the future be able to improve the previously modest rehabilitation rate of 40% in this area.
