Teleconference refers to a conference in which the conference participants are not in the same place.

The first form of teleconferencing was the teleconferencing in which only voice was transmitted. With a higher bandwidth, for example by using one or more ISDN lines, the image can then also be transmitted in video conferences .

Today, in addition to voice and video, the content of a computer screen can also be viewed together with application sharing . This requires higher data rates and is usually done over the Internet . Special software is required for this.
