Basic sketch of a poppet valve for the ventilation of pipes

A poppet valve is a control valve and is preferably used for the automatic ventilation of fluid lines. The poppet valves can be used for supply air, exhaust air and also as fire protection valves. The housings of the poppet valves are usually made of plastic or stainless steel . The plate-shaped seal, however, consists of foam . The manufactured poppet valves are supplied in a frame for easier assembly, where it is fixed after assembly.

functionality

The poppet valves are closed at normal pipeline pressure, and the sealing disk is pressed onto the valve seat. If, on the other hand, the pressure in the line to be protected falls, the spring lifts the disk seal from the valve seat and filtered air can be let into the line system to equalize pressure. Disk valves must be housed in sufficiently large shafts. As a rule of thumb, it is stated that the ventilation shaft must be twice the ventilation cross-section of the valve. Sufficient frost and heat protection must also be implemented in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

application

A large area of application for poppet valves is the gas exchange control of combustion engines.
