Teltix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teltix was the first mobile ticketing system in regular operation in German local public transport . It was introduced in 2003. The company of the same name was founded by Tanja Bach, Jochen Baumeister and Ingo Dahm .

function

With the Teltix system, tickets were purchased by calling the mobile phone, which was confirmed by an automatic announcement ("Have a good trip"). Each city has its own toll-free telephone number (e.g. 0800-TELTIX for Osnabrück, 0800-7 92 66 61 for Bonn). A single ticket for the respective city area was issued for each call. The passenger received a confirmation in the form of an SMS. A code was entered in the SMS as a reference to a database entry. With this code the inspector could check the authenticity. The system was combined with a best price calculation so that day tickets and week tickets can also be sold.

In order to use the system, it was necessary to register with the creation of a credit account.

history

The Teltix system is based on a patent from Jochen Baumeister from 2001. Initially, the start-up project started under the name Tel-a-Ticket in Dortmund. The founding teams of "Tel-a-Ticket" (Tanja Bach, Jochen Baumeister) and "SMS-Ticket" (Ingo Dahm) came together in the start-up competition Start2Grow and founded Teltix GmbH in 2002.

The system started in January 2003 as part of a pilot test with the Osnabrück municipal utility . After a five-month pilot phase, it was put into regular operation in Osnabrück in July 2003.

At the end of 2003, Stadtwerke Bonn introduced the Teltix system under the name of Handyticket.

From February 2004, Teltix cooperated with T-Mobile , so that tickets could also be purchased via the T-Zones WAP portal. In July of the same year, the ticketing system started selling museum tickets in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. Since November 2004 passengers of the Cologne transport company have been able to use the Teltix system.
