The Teltower railway AG had in the former capital of the industry-rich district of Teltow on the southern border of Berlin an exclusively serving the freight eight-kilometer railway line. It connected the state train station on the Berlin-Anhalt Railway with the port on the Teltow Canal .
The line was opened on July 22, 1909 by the Teltower Industriebahn GmbH, in which mainly industrial companies were involved. The Teltow district had taken over the management, which repeatedly led to losses that the shareholders no longer wanted to bear. Therefore, this task was transferred to an experienced company, the Allgemeine Deutsche Eisenbahn-Betriebs-GmbH (ADEG). Its parent company - the Allgemeine Deutsche Kleinbahn-Gesellschaft (ADKA) - founded the Teltower Eisenbahn AG on December 1, 1922 together with 15 companies and four private individuals; in 1928 the Teltower Industriebahn GmbH went on.
The volume of traffic developed well in the following years. After the end of the Second World War, the VVB Landesbahnen Brandenburg took over the industrial railway until it was handed over to the Deutsche Reichsbahn on April 1, 1949. The operation on the main part of the line between Teltow and Teltow West ended on December 31, 1994, the remaining closures followed in April 1998.
The Teltower Railway is not identical to the Teltower Kreisbahnen , a tram company.
