Temirzan Erzanov (also: Temirzhan Yerzhanov ; * 1969 in Alma-Ata ) is a Kazakh classical pianist and conductor. In 1993 he won the International Robert Schumann Competition for piano in Zwickau.

life and work

Erzanov was a student of the Azerbaijani piano teacher Siyavuş Hacıyev . He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory under the direction of Professor Mikhail Voskressensky . He later studied conducting with the Latvian-American conductor Imants Kociņš . After teaching at the Moscow Music School, he became a lecturer at the Moscow Conservatory in 1997. In 2002 he moved to the United States . After temporarily living in London (from 2009 to 2011), Erzanov is now back in the San Francisco Bay Area .

Temirzhan Yerzhanov started his career with first prize and a gold medal at the International Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Zwickau. He has toured extensively in Europe, the UK, Russia, China and India. He has performed in the London Wigmore Hall, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Dresden Sempergalerie, the Paris Salle Gaveau, the New York Weill Recital Hall and the Merkin Concert Hall as well as with the Moscow and Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2007, he received the Best Performance award from San Francisco Classical Voice . In his home country Kazakhstan he received the highest musical award for Honored Worker of Kazakhstan ( Yenbek Sinirgen Qairatkeri ). Erzanov has developed into an international music teacher. He directs the Gradus ad Parnassum youth orchestra .

Temirzan Erzanov is married to the pianist Klara Frei , with whom he often gives piano duo concerts .
