The Temple of the White Horse , ( Chinese  白馬 寺 , Pinyin Báimǎ Sì , Wade-Giles : Paima szu ) was traditionally the first Buddhist temple in China. It is said to have been founded in 68 AD under Emperor Ming from the eastern Han dynasty in Luoyang , whose capital was founded. The temple complex was redesigned several times under the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644) and the subsequent Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912), major changes also took place in the 1950s and after the destruction of the Cultural Revolutioninstead of. More recently, after the turn of the millennium, replicas of famous tourist sanctuaries of India and Thailand have also been added to the temple complex. This is intended to underline the cultural cooperation between the countries concerned and China. The replica of the Indian temple is the Sanchi Stupa , completed in 2008, while the Thai area under construction is a replica of the Shwedagon pagoda.
