Tequila Siete Leguas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tequila Siete Leguas is a tequila from the house of the same name ( Casa 7 Leguas ) based in Atotonilco El Alto , Jalisco . The distillery produces the tequila of the same name in the varieties Blanco , Reposado , Añejo and D'Antaño

history

The founder of Casa Siete Leguas, Ignacio González Vargas, was an ardent admirer of the northern Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa . Therefore he named the Tequilera he founded in 1952 and the first product from this distillery after his favorite horse Villas. The name comes from the outdated - and originally imported from Spain - unit of measurement Legua , which in Mexico corresponded to a length of 4,190 meters.

Explanations

  1. Just another term for the tequilas that are otherwise identified as extra-añejo and have been stored for at least three years; the Tequila 7 Leguas D'Antaño is stored in an oak barrel for five years.
