Teriteqas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teriteqas was a Nubian king known so far from two Meroitic inscriptions.

He is mentioned in a graffito in the temple of ad-Dakka and on a stele from Meroe . In both inscriptions he is named together with the queen Amanirenas , who probably ruled after him alone. In both inscriptions, which are not yet fully understood, a prince (?) Akinidad also appears .

The location of the inscription in Dakka may give an indication of the dating of Teriteqas, since this place was not normally under the rule of the Nubians. However, this was shortly before 29 BC. The fall and shortly after 25 BC. When this area was under Nubian rule. Teriteqas dates with relative certainty to the decades before the new era.
