László Török

László Török (born May 13, 1941 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian archaeologist .

Török studied architecture at the Technical University of Budapest from 1959 to 1964 and received his diploma in 1964 . In 1968 he received his doctorate in the field of architectural history. He completed his postgraduate studies in Coptic Studies from 1971 to 1972 at the Philosophical Faculty of the Eötvös Loránd University . From 1981 to 1994 he was head of the Roman Archeology Department at the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in his hometown. In addition, he has been honorary professor of Egyptology at ELTE since 1991 and was promoted to doctorate at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1992.

László Török is best known for his numerous publications on Nubia in antiquity . Since 1995 he has been a foreign member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences . He has had an honorary doctorate from the University of Bergen in Norway since 2000 , has been on the Advisory Board of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2003 and has been a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2004 and since 2010.
