Termini is a tunnel station on the Rome Metro . It was put into operation on February 10, 1955 as part of line B and in 1980 it became the transfer station between lines A and B. Since the two lines have no track connection, they are technically two independent stations. The metro station is located below Piazza dei Cinquecento and the Roma Termini train station , with which it forms the city's main transport hub.

Termini was in 1980 the only station of the Roman underground network where trains several lines stop, which, however, with the completion of the third line C changed.

In 2009, extensive work began to modernize both parts of the Termini subway station. The cost of this renovation is around 63 million euros.
