The Terminologia Esperanto-Centro (TEC) is the terminology center of the Esperanto World Federation (UEA) . It was initiated by the UEA in 1985 and officially founded in 1987.

history

In the 1950s, the International Esperantist Science Association (ISAE) and the Akademio de Esperanto ("Esperanto Academy") founded a terminology center headed by Rudolf Haferkorn. In 1970 Rüdiger Eichholz took over the task. Through his work and with the help of around 200 Esperanto-speaking experts, the picture dictionary was translated into Esperanto.

The main goal of the TEC is the coordination in the area of ​​Esperanto terminology. Since Esperantists are scattered all over the world, this is mainly done via the Internet these days. For example, B. the website of the TEC Information for Esperanto-speaking specialists who set themselves the goal of writing monolingual or multilingual Esperanto technical dictionaries themselves (the UEA maintains a list of all Esperanto technical dictionaries that have been published since 1980).

Cooperation

Through the Esperanto World Federation, TEC works indirectly with international organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization and the International Information Center for Terminology (Infoterm) in Vienna (as an associated member).
