Terry Sanderson

Terry Sanderson (* 1946 ) is a leading British secularist and activist of the gay movement. He is an author and journalist. Sanderson has been President of the National Secular Society since 2006 and a longtime columnist for the Gay Times .

Life

Sanderson was born into a mining family in South Yorkshire. He came out as homosexual at 17. His parents found out about this after reading an interview with Sanderson in a local newspaper about a campaign for equal rights for homosexuals. After Sanderson moved to London in the early 1970s, he worked for Woman's Own, among others .
