Tertiary

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tertiate or tertianship is Jesuits ( Society of Jesus before the priests be incorporated into the Order), the third (and final) exam time.

While the candidacy and the novitiate are at the beginning of the formation, the members of the Order complete the tertiary at the end of their formation. This applies to those preparing for the priesthood , especially in their studies of philosophy and theology . The tertiary serves to renew and deepen their original calling. For this purpose, the participants - usually 8 to 10 Jesuits under the guidance of an instructor - study the spiritual foundations of the order, make the 30-day retreat again and undergo times of testing in special pastoral or social situations ("experiments") in the tradition of the Ignatius of Loyola .
