Ostvest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ostvest is a region in the Recklinghausen district , which includes the cities of Waltrop , Datteln , Oer-Erkenschwick and the Haltern district of Flaesheim . These form the eastern border of the Recklinghausen Vests to the neighboring cities of Dortmund and Lünen as well as to the Münsterland .

The general term vest is already known from the Middle Ages, the term Ostvest, on the other hand, was not created until the 1970s. This term is used, for example, in connection with inter-municipal cooperation . This is the name of the joint vocational school for the affiliated cities, vocational college Ostvest .

The WAZ had also summarized its local parts in an " Ostvestbuch " (coherent part of the edition) before the area was given up in January 2007 when the WAZ local editorial offices were closed.

In many other institutions, the term, which does not officially exist, is still in use. For example, the youth department of the Waltrop handball club and the youth handball team of TV Datteln founded a youth game community in April 2010 under the name JSG OstVEST Waltrop / Datteln .

The cooperation in Ostvest develops through the common schools, in and between the clubs as well as at cultural events and celebrations. A website with a forum provides information on current events in Ostvest and provides an overview of the dates for all participating cities.
