Testament Records was an American record label based first in Philadelphia , then in Chicago , later in Pasadena , which was founded in 1963 by Down Beat Magazine publisher and author Pete Welding and had around 30 long-playing records by 1977, mainly blues -, but also some gospel , country and jazz albums.

In 1994 the entire Testament catalog was sold to Hightone Records , which in the following years released almost all Testament albums on CD, often supplemented by previously unreleased additional recordings of the same recording sessions.
