A test strip or test stick is an elongated object with which the presence, amount or concentration of a substance can be determined according to one or more criteria. The evaluation can be done visually or by means of electronic devices.

As an aid in visual evaluation, samples are often used for color comparison, which are either applied to separate cards or directly on the packaging of the respective product. The measuring equipment is typically lost after a single use.

Frequent applications can be found - for example in determining blood sugar levels or a pregnancy test - in medicine and pharmacy , but z. B. also in building metrology and food production. The measurement objectives are very diverse, and the applications are sometimes very different.
