Tesuji

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tesuji ( Japanese手筋) is a Japanese term that describes a basic sequence of moves in strategic board games such as Go or Shogi that works particularly well locally and brings a certain degree of sophistication. Which train sequences are actually to be regarded as Tesuji, however, is not clearly regulated, since a clear demarcation to increasingly complicated and special train sequences is not possible.

One of the simplest Tesuji in Go is the stairs or ladder (shicho) , which beginners usually get to know in their first games. A group of stones is held in " Atari " over and over again until it can finally be struck. The image of a ladder or stairs emerges on the board.

One of the basic Tesuji in Shogi is the hanging pawn (tarefu) , whereby a pawn is placed on the playing field with the aim of attacking with the next move from the field in front of this pawn.

A Tesuji that is not played correctly is called a Hamete .
