Teunis van der Linden

Teunis van der Linden (born January 22, 1884 in Zwijndrecht (Netherlands) , † 1965 ) was a Dutch chemist.

Teunis van der Linden received his doctorate cum laude from the University of Amsterdam under AF Holleman in 1910 (Quantitatief onderzoek over de halogeneering der mono-halogeenbenzenes). At the University of Amsterdam he worked on the photochlorination of alkanes and aromatics and especially of benzene , from which the insecticide lindane was created, which is named after him.

From 1937 to 1954 he was secretary of the Chemical Association of the Netherlands.
