Teviot Row House
Teviot Row House (also known colloquially as "Teviot" ) is a building belonging to the University of Edinburgh Students' Association and is located in Bristo Square , Edinburgh . The building is operated and managed by the university's student union, Edinburgh University Student's Association (EUSA). It is the world's oldest university building specially built for a student union and opened on October 19, 1889.
In the building there are seven bars, a canteen, a coffee shop, a debating room, a dining room and many conference rooms which can be booked for events through the student clubs. It is used by The Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Festival and is one of the largest venues in the city during the Fringe Festival.
In addition to being used by student club activities, regular events take place in the building. At the beginning of each university year, numerous special events are offered as part of an orientation week (Freshers' Week) and the entire building is used for a ball, among other things. In addition to the formal events in Teviot, EUSA holds other more informal events in Potterow, a building at the other end of Bristo Square that houses the student organization's advisory offices, among other things.
