Textile Museum The Barn
The textile museum Die Scheune is located in the Nettetal district of Hinsbeck- Hombergen and presents various spinning machines, looms and other textile machines and corresponding work processes, as well as exhibitions with changing focus topics. The functional exhibits include u. a. a Jaquard loom that can be programmed with punch cards .
Most of the exhibits come from the private collection of Hildegard and Walter Tillmann, who were awarded the Viersen District Citizens' Prize in 2006 . Today the museum is run by the NRW Foundation .
The museum was housed in a small half-timbered building and former customs post that dates back to the 17th century. The museum reflects the importance of the Lower Rhine textile manufacture and in particular the local linen and velvet weaving in the Nettetal .
