Texture (psychology)

In perception psychology, texture means the condition of a surface that can be perceived with the eye. According to Englert (1993), texture is that visual perception through which two adjacent, structured parts of the visual field spontaneously differ when viewed with the unmoved eye . The number of dimensions of the texture is not yet known, but is likely to be five or more. For example, Tamura, Mori and Yamawaki classify textures by coarseness (coarseness) , contrast (contrast) , directionality (directionality) , Linienartigkeit (Line-like Ness) , uniformity (regularity) and roughness (roughness) , wherein roughness of other researchers as tactile and is not considered a visual attribute .
