Thèse d'Etat
The Thèse d'Etat is a no longer existing form of thesis in France .
It is a very detailed scientific thesis and to a certain extent to be located between the dissertation and the habilitation. The Thèse d'Etat was the prerequisite for the change of school teachers from the secondary level to employment at a university. Since the 1880s, this has been the common career path for French historians who first studied history at a university, then switched to teaching at a higher school as an admission test after completing the Agrégation , and finally after a certain time as a teacher, now as a scientist at a university switch.
