Thalatha Atukorale ( Tamil தலதா அத்துகோரல , born May 30, 1963 ) is a Sri Lankan politician and Member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka . Atukorala was on January 12, 2015 President Maithripala Sirisena to Cabinet ministers nominated for "Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare". In addition, on August 25, 2017, she was assigned the duties of Minister of Justice . This made her the first woman in this position in Sri Lanka.

She is the sister of the politician Gamini Atukorale , the former minister and "Assistant Leader" of the United National Party . Only after the death of her brother in 2004 did Atukorale become politically active. She won a seat in parliament for the Ratnapura constituency in 2004, 2010 and 2015.
