The al-Fakhariyya minaret , also known as the Bab-al-Maghariba minaret ( Arabic مئذنة باب المغاربة, DMG Miʾḏanat Bāb al-Maġāriba orالمئذنة الفخرية / al-Miʾḏana al-Faḫriyya ), is one of the four minarets on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem , which all belong to the al-Aqsa Mosque .

The minaret

The al-Fakhariyya minaret, located in the southwest corner of the Temple Mount grounds, was built in 1278 (according to other information in 1297) by Qadi Sharaf al-Din al-Khalili (or al-Khalili) on behalf of the Sultan Ladschin and restored in 1922. The name of the minaret should remember Fachr ad-Din al-Khalili (or al-Khalili), the father of the builder of the minaret.

The minaret was built in the traditional Syrian style. The floor plan is square and divided into three floors by decorative strips. Above is a square chamber with a niche and a platform from which people are called to prayer. Above it is a stone dome clad with lead.
