Athanasios Pafilis
Athanasios Pafilis (Greek: Θανάσης Παφίλης , born November 8, 1954 in Pitsio Fthiotidas , Greek Πίτσιο Φθιώτιδας ) is a Greek politician of the Communist Party .
Life
Pafilis graduated from the Faculty of Law in Thessaloniki . He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and was General Secretary of the Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace and the World Peace Council . He also sat on the United Nations Human Rights Committee . From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Greek Parliament . In 2004 he was elected to the European Parliament , in October 2009 he returned to the Greek Parliament. His mandate was confirmed in the elections in May and June 2012 .
