That Was The Week That Was , abbreviated to TW3, was a satirical TV program on the BBC that aired in 1962 and 1963. Ned Sherrin acted as producer and director, and David Frost as presenter .

The satirical weekly review was first broadcast on Saturday, November 24, 1962. TW3 caused a sensation with its disrespectful treatment of authorities and established institutions, but also with the given time limits.

Prime Minister Harold Macmillan initially defended the show, but it was not continued after two successful seasons in the 1964 election year.

NBC showed an American version of TW3 with a pilot on November 10, 1963, then as a series from January 1964 to May 1965. Contributors included Henry Fonda , Henry Morgan , Mike Nichols , Elaine May , Gene Hackman and Woody Allen . David Frost also participated again. The songs written by Tom Lehrer for the show became legendary . They appeared under the title That Was the Year That Was in September 1965 as an LP. Another offshoot existed from 1964 to 1966 in Canada under the title This Hour Has Seven Days .
