The Abingtons are two adjacent villages of Great Abington and Little Abington in South Cambridgeshire .

The history of the settlement begins in the Bronze Age 4000 years ago. The name goes back to the Saxons , originally as Abba's Farm . The division into Great and Little Abington came much later, long after the two mansions on either side of the River Granta were assigned to different individuals during the Norman Conquest of England .

The two villages have a vibrant community with two churches, an elementary school, a village shop and post office, a pub, a soccer and cricket team and some local businesses, most of them in Granta Park including The Welding Institute .
