As part of the tourism project Andermatt Swiss Alps of the Egyptian multi-billionaire and investor Samih Sawiris was The Chedi Andermatt realized the first hotel. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 26, 2009, and on August 31, 2010 a foundation stone was laid during a ceremony on the building site . The hotel started operations in December 2013.

The hotel has a Japanese restaurant , a restaurant with Asian and European dishes and a 2400 square meter spa and wellness area.
