The Courage to Heal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Courage to Heal: A Guide for Women Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (German: Despite everything - have learned ways of self-healing for women, sexual violence ) is a popular self-help book for people (especially women), sexual violence have experienced. The authors are Ellen Bass (a feminist activist) and Laura Davis (an incest survivor ).

Bass and Davies see a range of physical symptoms (such as inexplicable pain) and emotional symptoms (such as inexplicable fears, self-harming behavior) as indicators of sexual abuse. This trauma is suppressed and the symptoms are a consequence of it. With self-help techniques described in detail by the authors, the memory of the trauma should be brought back to consciousness. So healing is possible.
