Orgelbau Friedrich Weigle was an organ building company in the Stuttgart area .

Company history

The first workshop was founded by Carl Gottlieb Weigle in 1845. By 1879 he had built around 100 organs. There are also renovation and repair work on various organs, such as B. 1862 on the Gabler organ of the monastery church in Weingarten . His organs also went overseas. In 1880 his son Friedrich Weigle took over the business and moved the workshop from Stuttgart to Echterdingen in 1888. Before the turn of the century, organs were already being delivered to America, Africa and Asia. Around 1902 bankruptcy proceedings started against the company.

After his death, the sons Friedrich, Karl, Julius and Gotthold Weigle took over the company, from 1937 Friedrich was the sole owner. In cooperation with the harmonium construction company J. & P. Schiedmayer , Weigle developed the so-called Parabrahm organ in 1908 , which has an integrated harmonium in addition to a conventional pipe organ . The only instrument of this type preserved today is in Eichwalde near Berlin .

In 1958 his son Fritz Weigle took over the company. The company was dissolved in 1985.

In 1986 his son Joachim F. Weigle founded the workshop for organ building Joachim F. Weigle in St. Johann -Upfingen near Reutlingen.
