Darmsheim is a district of Sindelfingen in the district of Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Darmsheim is located around 4.5 km west-southwest of Sindelfingen at an altitude of 425  m above sea level. NN and has 4085 inhabitants.

Neighboring towns are Maichingen and Döffingen in the north, Aidlingen in the west, Ehningen in the south and Dagersheim and the core city of Sindelfingen in the east. Today Maichingen , like Darmsheim, belongs to Sindelfingen, Dagersheim to Böblingen , and Döffingen and Dätzingen make up the Grafenau community . The expansion of Darmsheim and Dagersheim in the economic boom of the post-war years meant that the development of the places grew together in places.

The Schwippe flows through Darmsheim . An abandoned quarry in the village was transformed into a park in the Aibachgrund and is also a geological natural monument. Muschelkalk rock is still being extracted from another quarry on the outskirts .

history

The place was first mentioned in the 12th century. At that time there was a local nobility. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Counts of Tübingen (with the Tübingen-Herrenberg and Tübingen-Böblingen lines) ruled Darmsheim. The further history up to the 19th century is given here as an overview:

  • 1344/1382 acquisition by Württemberg
  • In 1436 Darmsheim became the property of Princess Mechthild von der Pfalz .
  • 17th century: The destruction in the Thirty Years' War halved the population to approx. 450, only in the 19th century a number of 1,000 inhabitants was reached again.
  • In 1850 Darmsheim had 969 Protestant and four Catholic residents who lived and worked in 202 main and 100 auxiliary buildings.

A decisive date is August 20, 1907 : The "Great Fire" destroyed 143 buildings and 58 families became homeless. However, the place could be rebuilt with support from the whole of the German Empire . The community continued to belong to the Oberamt Böblingen - later the district. On September 1, 1971, as part of the community reform, it was incorporated into Sindelfingen .

Darmsheim is located in the immediate vicinity of the industrial sites in Sindelfingen and Böblingen. " Daimler " in particular has an enormous demand for labor and thus brings jobs and people looking for accommodation. The negative side effect is the heavy rush hour traffic - especially when changing shifts: a main route towards the Black Forest ( district of Calw ) is the L 1182, which led through the town. A bypass road was longed for and got stuck in and before the planning stage. The groundbreaking ceremony for the northern bypass with tunnel took place in 2006. It was opened to traffic on May 18, 2018.

Darmsheim has been given a bypass road. For a few years it was a matter of building a small bridge. The construction of the bypass started in 2015. The 460 m long Darmsheim tunnel was built for this purpose, which was cut through on January 20, 2016. The bypass was completed in 2018.
