Gebrüder Hillebrand Orgelbau is an organ building company in Altwarmbüchen , which has made a name for itself in Northern Germany through the consistent restoration of historical organs. In addition, the company has created new buildings, which are often historicizing are based on models of the North German Baroque organ.

history

The family company was founded by Hermann Hillebrand (* 1904 in Hanover ; † 1966 there). He learned organ building in Hanover with Lothar Wetzel (* May 16, 1888; † November 25, 1964) and after the Second World War passed the master's examination with Emil Hammer Organ Building. In 1948 Hermann Hillebrand went into business for himself. The son Harry Hillebrand (born November 1, 1930; † December 24, 1987) apprenticed at Orgelbau Romanus Seifert & Sohn, in order to then immerse himself in his father's company. It was there that his brother Guntram Hillebrand (1934–1991) learned the trade. After the death of Hermann Hillebrand, both brothers took over the company, in which Harry was managing director until 1987 and Guntram until 1991. Since 1978 the company has been operating under the name “Gebrüder Hillebrand GmbH Orgelbau KG”. Since 1992, master organ builder Martin Hillebrand (* 1960) has been managing director, who initially worked in his father's company, then deepened his knowledge and skills with various organ builders ( Metzler Orgelbau , Orgelbau Kuhn , Marcussen & Søn , Orgelbau Vleugels , Carl Giesecke ). His son Nikolas works as a fourth generation organ builder in the family business. The workshop received the Lower Saxony Culture Prize in 1986. She was a project partner in the completed research project "Development of measures to reduce lead corrosion on organ pipes from the 17th and 18th centuries".

Works (selection)

Hermann Hillebrand created over 90 organs, the workshop "Gebrüder Hillebrand GmbH Orgelbau KG" created more than 120 new structures by 2011. In total, the list of works, including restorations, includes over 600 projects.

The size of the instruments is indicated in the fifth column by the number of manuals and the number of sounding registers in the sixth column. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal.
