history

A catholic emergency church was built in Seesen as early as 1927 , previously the Seesen Catholics used the church " St. Michael " in Bilderlahe .

On the third Sunday of Advent in 1956, the newly built "Maria Königin" church was inaugurated by Vicar General Wilhelm Offenstein . At that time, after the death of Bishop Joseph Godehard Machens, the bishopric of Hildesheim was vacant. On July 1, 1957, the Seesen parish was established, and on October 1, 1965, it was elevated to a parish .

After a redesign of the interior by Claus Kilian , triggered by the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council , the church was consecrated on October 17, 1981 by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . In 1997 the church was enriched with a bell tower. Since May 2005 the church has belonged to the Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth, previously it belonged to the Deanery Goslar.

In 2007 the branch church " Holy Family " in Münchehof was profaned . On November 29th, 2009 the church "Maria Königin" was inaugurated again after a renovation led by the architect Klaus Determann by Vicar General Werner Schreer . Since September 1, 2010, the parish of Maria Königin also includes the Catholic churches “St. Michael ”in Bilderlahe and“ St. Clemens ”in Bockenem .
