Werner Schreer (born May 12, 1957 in Einbeck ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and former vicar general in the Diocese of Hildesheim .

After studying theology in Münster and Würzburg, Schreer was ordained a priest on June 5, 1982 by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . At first he was chaplain at the Bremen churches of St. Marien and Hl. Kreuz . From 1985, he continued his scientific work in Tübingen continued and received his doctorate at Walter Kasper to Dr. theol. In 1990 Bishop Josef Homeyer appointed him to the episcopal chaplain. At the same time he was sub-rain of the Hildesheim seminary and worked in the parish of St. Mauritius . In 1996 he became head of the newly established diocesan office for pastoral training and advice and pastor in the Hildesheimer Nordstadt .

On September 1, 2006, Bishop Norbert Trelle Schreer appointed as the successor to Karl Bernert as Vicar General. In the same year he became a member of the cathedral chapter . In 2009 Pope Benedict XVI awarded him . the honorary title of prelate . For health reasons, Bishop Trelle released him as vicar general on September 30, 2016 and appointed Heinz-Günter Bongartz as his successor.
