Local division

The small settlements of Adenhausen and Burg to the north of the village belong to Bilderlahe.

history

Bilderlahe was first mentioned in a document around 1100 as Bidela. The name spelling changed several times over the centuries, in 1238 the place was called Billerla and in 1297 Bilderlahe.

With the destruction of Wohlenstein Castle in 1519, Bilderlahe was also destroyed. The new ruler, the Duke of Braunschweig , soon built an office building out of the ruins in the nearby valley of the Nette . Today the former official domain stands here.

From 1523 until the restitution in 1643, the Brunswick Duke ruled over Bilderlahe before it came back to the Catholic Monastery of Hildesheim . At the beginning of the 19th century, Bilderlahe belonged to the Kingdom of Westphalia under French occupation , then became the seat of the Bilderlahe Office in the Kingdom of Hanover , before Hanover and thus also Bilderlahe came to Prussia in 1866. From 1885 the place belonged to the Hildesheim-Marienburg district . On July 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Bilderlahe was incorporated into Seesen in the Gandersheim district . On August 1st, 1977 Seesen and with it Bilderlahe came to the district of Goslar.
