Wohldenberg (noble family)
The Counts of Wohldenberg , including Woldenberg , formerly Lords of Wöltingerode, were a dynasty documented in the High Middle Ages that was wealthy northwest of the Harz Mountains .
The castle was named after Wohldenberg . In 1174 they had their former family castle Wöltingerode converted into a Benedictine monastery; they founded the Wöltingerode monastery . When they died out, their property fell to the Hildesheim Monastery in 1383 .
