Adelheid von Woldenberg

Adelheid von Woldenberg was the first abbess of the St. Aegidii Monastery in Münster . She died in 1208 or 1209.

It came from the Woldenberg family . Burkhard I. von Woldenberg was her brother.

She married Helmold I. von Schwerin . Since he died young, they were left without any descendants.

She inherited goods near Ascheberg (Westphalia) from previous possession of the Billunger . After her brother Ludiger von Woldenberg died around 1203, she gave these goods to the diocese of Münster in 1206 and was later buried in St. Paulus Cathedral (Münster) as a thank you - the only person who did not belong to the cathedral chapter .

After Helmold's untimely death, she did not appear for a few years. Around 1206 she became abbess of the St. Aegidii Monastery in Münster.
