St. Michael Church

The Catholic Church of St. Michael is named after the Archangel Michael and is located at Lindenallee 13 in Bilderlahe , a district of the city of Seesen , in the district of Goslar in Lower Saxony . It belongs to the parish " Maria Königin " with seat in Seesen, in the dean's office Alfeld-Detfurth of the diocese Hildesheim . Today St. Michael is the oldest church in the urban area of ​​Seesen.

history

Catholic church registers have been kept in Bilderlahe since at least 1687 . In 1717 the St. Michael Church was built and consecrated .

From 1946 to 1958, the parish “St. Michael ” parish vicarie Echte , after Catholic refugees and displaced persons , mainly from Silesia , settled in the Echte area as a result of the Second World War . In 1975/76 a major renovation of the church took place, including the removal of the historic sandstone floor.

Since May 2005 the church has belonged to the Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth, previously it belonged to the Deanery Goslar. In April 2007 her branch church " St. Oliver " in Rhüden was profaned . Since September 1, 2010, the St. Michael Church has belonged to the Seesen parish "Maria Königin".

In 2016/17 the church was renovated under the direction of the architect Klaus Determann . The confessional next to the entrance door was replaced by a crucifix from the secular church of the Holy Family in Münchehof . The Way of the Cross came from the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in Bornum , which was also profaned, to the Church of St. Michael. For this purpose, some angel figures were removed from the St. Michael Church , which were felt to be no longer contemporary with their appearance. The reopening of the church took place on April 23, 2017.

Architecture and equipment

The baroque church, which is around 157 meters above sea level , was built from rubble stones. Her with tiles turned INDOOR gable roof is of one with slate -covered roof turret with a bell crowned.

The organ was built by August Schaper in 1887 and has largely been preserved except for the housing that was redesigned in 1953. The organ work has eight registers on a manual and pedal.
