Klaus Determann

Klaus Determann (born April 27, 1941 in Stolzenau an der Weser) is a German architect , painter and author.

After graduating from school in Nienburg , he first did an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. After completing his training, he obtained his university entrance qualification and studied architecture in Nienburg . Initially as an employee, he worked as a freelance architect from 1983. With his Hanover architecture office, he was successful in various construction projects at home and abroad in the 1980s and 1990s. After 1990 especially with a focus on the new federal states.

In addition to his work as an architect, Klaus Determann has been a painter and writer since the early 1980s. He runs a studio in Isernhagen near Hanover and for a long time had a studio in Palma de Mallorca near the Joan Miró Museum . In 1982 he had intensive contact with Franz Radziwill , who had a considerable influence on his first work. He kept in particular contact with the master students of his role model Joseph Beuys in the Ruhr area and with Ben Willikens in Stuttgart, with whom he realized several “ art in building projects” between 1986 and 1998 .

The artistic focus is on sacred topics and basic questions in the natural sciences. This led to the publication of religious and scientific specialist books such as “In the beginning the word pops” and “The apple tree of Isaac Newton”, each attempting to link church dogmas and scientific knowledge.

In this context, Klaus Determann was appointed to the Liturgy Commission of the Episcopal Vicariate General in Hildesheim in 2006.

Project Bible

Between 1994 and 2000 Klaus Determann worked on a project with a total of 99 pictures on Bible topics. For each of these pictures, own poems were set to music in collaboration with the concert pianist Jerzy Mallek (lecturer at the Hanover University of Music and Theater ). Images and music found their way into an own interpretation of the Bible with the title: "Faith is art - art is faith"
