The Church of the Holy Angels in Hanover-Kirchrode is the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Hanover-Kirchrode-Bemerode-Wülferode.

Your parish belongs to the Hannover deanery of the Hildesheim diocese . The church named after the angels is located at Reichenberger Straße 3, the neighboring parish office at Böhmerwaldstraße 8, and the parish hall at Reichenberger Straße 5.

history

Until the construction of the Church of the Holy Angels in 1964, the Catholics in Kirchrode, Bemerode and Wülferode belonged to the parish of St. Antonius in Hannover-Kleefeld. From July 1, 1964, they formed their own parish, which was given the status of a parish on October 1, 1970. In 1964 there were 1,850 believers in the community, in 1990 already 3,400. In 1998 the parish home was expanded. Since May 1, 2007, the parish has belonged to the then newly established dean's office in Hanover, previously it belonged to the dean's office in Hanover-East. In 2014 the parish had around 4,900 members.

Church building

The church was built in 1963/64 and was designed by Josef Bieling , Kassel. The nave was built as a "tent of God among the people" with a steep, low roof. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1962, and the foundation stone was laid in 1963. On May 30, 1964, the consecration took place by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen .

Inside, the enthroned Mother of God, the Way of the Cross, the illustrated gable windows, the side and altar windows with the representation of the burning bush and the organ ( Emil Hammer Orgelbau ) from 1987 are worth seeing . In 2014 the chancel was redesigned by Klaus Determann .

The congregation works with the evangelical congregations in the area ( St. Johannis Bemerode, Jakobi Kirchrode, St. Martin in Anderten) on the basis of a Charter Oecumenica .
