St. John's Church

The St. Johannis Church is the main church of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Johannis Parish in Bemerode-Kronsberg-Wülferode in Hanover-Bemerode .

history

The St. Johannis Church was built in 1962 by the architects Ingeborg and Martin Düker in the new center of Bemerode. It was created due to the growing community in the Bemerode district as a successor to the St. Johannis Chapel .

Until 1950 the St. Johannis parish belonged to Jakobi Kirchrode as a chapel parish . The community became independent due to the strong population growth in the village of Bemerode. At the beginning of the 1970s, the village of Bemerode was incorporated into the city of Hanover. In the following decades the community grew steadily through the creation of new residential areas (e.g. Emslandviertel, asparagus field, Expo settlement ) in Bemerode.

The community has had a kindergarten since 1957.

With the neighboring communities Jakobi Kirchrode and St. Martin Anderten , the Roman Catholic community of the Holy Angels and the Coptic community of Hanover, there is an intensive ecumenical bond and cooperation within the framework of a Charter Oecumenica.
