The Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus was the Catholic church in Bornum , a district of Bockenem , in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony . It was a branch church of the parish of St. Clemens in Bockenem in the Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth of the Diocese of Hildesheim . The church was named after St. Therese von Lisieux and was located at Bachstraße 18 (corner of Bockenemer Straße). Today the nearest Catholic church is 5 km away in Bockenem.

The church was built in 1958/59 after the number of Catholics in Bornum and the surrounding area increased in the post-war period due to the settlement of refugees and displaced persons. Before that, the church for the Catholic residents of Bornum was in Bockenem.

The Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus was built as a massive nave building with a ridge turret and was located almost 125 meters above sea level . On May 25 In 1959 their blessing , the auxiliary cartridge were St. Joseph and St. Hedwig .

On April 10, 2010 the church was profaned by Vicar General Werner Schreer . In 2011 the roof turret was broken off and the two bronze bells from 1960, St. Bernward and Godehard and St. Hedwig , were given away to the Protestant church in Ferbitz (district of Lanz in Brandenburg ). The building was sold and is now (2013) used by a roofing company. In 2017 the Way of the Cross of the church was hung up again in the St. Michael Church in Bilderlahe .
