The district of Marienburg in Hanover was a Prussian district in the south of the province of Hanover .
history
The district of Marienburg was formed in 1885 from the old Hanoverian authorities Marienburg and Bockenem and named after the medieval moated castle Marienburg and the later domain of the same name. The district had its seat in the independent city of Hildesheim, which was not part of the district .
In 1911 the Moritzberg community was incorporated into the city of Hildesheim, which had been an independent city since 1885, and the Neuhof community in 1938 .
On August 1, 1941, the Salzgitter Act incorporated the municipalities of Baddeckestedt , Binder , Groß Elbe , Groß Heere , Gustedt , Klein Elbe , Klein Heere , Rhene , Sehlde , Wartjenstedt and parts of the municipality of Sillium into the Wolfenbüttel district ( state of Braunschweig ) ; from the district of Gandersheim (state of Braunschweig) the communities Bodenburg and Östrum were in the district of Marienburg i. Hann. incorporated.
In 1946 the district of Marienburg was combined with the old district of Hildesheim to form the district of Hildesheim-Marienburg . This was merged in 1974 with the previously independent city of Hildesheim and in 1977 with the Alfeld district to form today's Hildesheim district.

Until it was abolished in the 1920s, the district of Marienburg also included the estate districts of Derneburg-Astenbeck, Fünfberge, Nettlingen-Steinbrück and Röderhof as well as the forest districts of Hildesheimer Wald , Südwald, Sundern, Tidexerberg, Tosmarberg , Wendserberg with the Wulferkampe and Ziegenberg.
